Sheila
I heard about DCWJC through Divine appointment. Probation told me to call the Martin Luther King Center for help finding a job (they didn't do that). The lady answering the phone said she had just gotten off the phone with CWJC and I should probably call them. I needed help in building self-esteem. I had no feeling of self worth. I found the love of Jesus Christ in the Baptist women in the program and others who just had a heart to help from churches in Dallas. I was helped through the Bible study, inspiration to share Jesus' love from everyone involved. Carolyn Smith, my mentor, helped me with prosthesis, a job, and an apartment. I also was helped with a computer skills class. I've been working at a furniture outlet store since 1999. I am now in purchasing where I am responsible for ordering lots of the furniture we sell. I've had my own apartment since 1/27/2000. I have Bible study once each week at work and once each week at my church, Fellowship Bible Church, where I am a member. I take every opportunity to tell whoever will listen how awesome God has been in my life. Gailor I was introduced to Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps through Ms. Betty Ann Whitson. Which after contemplating many days and prayer; God led me into the program. My self confidence and spiritual guidance were low; until I participated in the program. After applying myself and soul searching within myself, I regained my self-confidence and God gave me a spiritual uplift. On how to deal with my problems in a spiritual manner. All the ladies were guided with the Spirit of the Lord and they gave positive ways to handle life when in crisis. They not only showed me spiritual scriptures but they gave me confidence in my life and with myself. Oh, let's not forget, how to maintain my composure when it came to my two boys, 2 years old and 6 years old. My long term goals were to educate myself in computers, to seek better employment positions. At this moment I'm seeking employment, but with these ladies' help and most of all, God's guidance, I will succeed in anything I set out to do. I love everyone of you ladies. My mentor is a great encourager and she's not only persistent, but she's giving me guidance on how to conduct my life and be successful in whatever I'm out to do. Kathleen I heard about Christian Women's Job Corps while I was in a program called Gates of Splendor. It was helping me get my life back with God's help. Part of the program was to attend CWJC for 12 weeks of classes. There were other things but nothing seemed to help as much as CWJC. All the different things worked together to help me. I had to learn to love myself for who God created me to be. I had to love myself first before I could love others. When I came to God I had no self esteem. I needed to learn to trust people and open up. That was very hard for me at first. But between God and the strong Chrisian women, I am on my way. I relearned about money, children, the Bible and loving self. All the strong Christian women helped, but Pam, my mentor, was always there guiding me along, cheering me on. I have never felt so much love and caring from anyone before. It helped me know and learn I could do anything. Right now, my goals are to get myself healthy first, with God's help. To rebuild relationships with my sons, Steven and Joseph. To be the mother they need, but to be the woman of God He created me to be and to be a daughter and sister again. To know my life does have purpose and meaning. |
